Apples and Pears

I’m trying to keep my fall excitement in check for the benefit of both your and my sanity. But, it’s hard to remain calm when I begin seeing apples and pears at the markets. Those beauties have me dreaming of baking warm, gooey desserts to be enjoyed on cool, crisp fall days.

I offered a little fall baking guidance in my most recent newsletter, and I’m keeping the theme going with a collection of some of my favorite apple and pear recipes.

I made this Spiced Pear Cake as a last-minute dessert. Those kinds of desserts don’t always turn out the way you want, but this cake turned out exactly as I’d hoped. It combines pears with a lovely array of spices. Then, it’s all topped off with a cream cheese glaze.

Caramel Apple Bars | Bake or Break

I can probably sell many of you on these Caramel Apple Bars with just three words: apples, cinnamon, caramel. I know that’s what did it for me. That’s one of my favorite fall baking combos, and you just might see it repeated again and again on BoB.

The first time I made Pear Bread, I knew it was both a good and bad thing. Good, because it’s just so amazingly tasty. Bad, because I knew that I would want to bake it over and over again. This bread is one of the first things I think about baking every time pear season rolls around.

Apple pie is such a classic dessert. Perhaps my favorite way to make apple pie is to make these little Apple Pie Bundles. They’re so rustic yet so pretty. Plus, they’re surprisingly simple to make. If you’re not quite ready for homemade pie crust (although it’s really easy!), you can always go the store-bought route.

What could be more perfect on a fall morning than a batch of Cinnamon-Apple Scones? Just imagine them warm from the oven. Yeah, pretty perfect.

Staying with the breakfast idea for a bit, I have to tell you how much I love these Pear and Pecan Muffins. They combine two of my favorite things – pears and pecans. Plus, there’s a hint of cinnamon for good measure. These are an essential part of my fall baking lineup. In fact, I think I’ll be seeing these again in my near future.

If you can’t decide between apples and pears, go with both in this Caramel Apple Pear Cobbler. The apples and pears get all caramel-y on the stovetop. Then, they get topped off with a oat-based crust. I love making this in individual ramekins for a gathering. That also helps prevent you from just eating large quantities of it straight out of a big pan hk property agency.

Let’s go back to apples and caramel with Apple Spice Cake. It’s a bit along the lines of that Spiced Pear Cake a few photos back, but the spices are dialed down to feature the apples and, of course, the rich caramel sauce stanley property.

While these are some of my favorites, there are more apple and pear recipes in the BoB archives. And, I’ll have plenty more coming up now that we’re entering their prime season.
